Digits Timer
Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
The Digits Timer app has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics. What you create in the app stays on your devices.
This policy covers the Digits Timer app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, published by Semanon Studios ("we," "us").
The Short Version
The Digits Timer app has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics. What you create in the app stays on your devices, in Apple Health and in your Photos library. We never receive it. (This website is separate: it uses Google Analytics to count visits, as described under This Website.)
- No sign-up. The app never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- No tracking. The app contains no advertising or analytics software and does not track you across apps or websites.
- No cloud of ours. The app does not send your timers, workouts, videos or health data to us or to anyone else over the internet.
- Your permission first. Apple Health, the camera, the microphone, Photos, notifications and the local network are each used only after you allow them, and only for the feature that needs them.
Information Kept On Your Device
The app stores the following on the device you use it on. None of it is sent to us.
| What | Why it is stored |
|---|---|
| Saved timers and unfinished drafts | So your timers are there next time |
| Workout log: timer name, start time, time trained, rounds completed, whether it ended early, and links to its video clips | To show your workout history, including workouts you chose not to save to Apple Health |
| Settings: sound, volume, set colors, default countdown, week start, video options | To remember your preferences |
| Your onboarding answers: what you train and where you train | To pick starter timers for you. These answers stay on the device and are never sent anywhere |
| When each saved timer was last played | To sort your list by most recent |
| The timer in progress | So a timer resumes at the right time if the app is closed |
| Free trial start date and launch offer start time | To run the trial and the launch price once per device |
| Remote control details: a random device ID, the iPad's name and passcode, and pairing keys | To connect your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch (see Local network below) |
Most of this is held in the app's own storage. The trial dates, passcode and pairing keys are held in the device's Keychain, set to stay on that device only.
If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, Apple may include the app's storage in that backup. That backup is yours and is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. The app uses it only if you allow it, and only for timers you have given a workout type.
What the app writes. When a tracked workout finishes, the app saves it to Apple Health: the workout type, start and end times, pauses, and details about the timer (its name, rounds completed, time trained, whether it ended early, and when each set ran). With an Apple Watch, the workout also includes heart rate and active calories measured by the Watch.
What the app reads. The app reads workouts, heart rate and active energy to show your workout history and your live heart rate and calories on the timer.
How it is used. Health data is used only to provide these features inside the app. In particular:
- We never receive your health data. It stays in Apple Health on your devices.
- It is never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared with data brokers or any third party.
- The app does not store health data in iCloud. If your workouts appear on your other devices, that is Apple Health syncing through your own iCloud account.
Live heart rate on a shared screen. If you control an iPad from your iPhone while wearing an Apple Watch, your live heart rate and calories are sent to that iPad over the local network and shown on its screen. Anyone who can see the iPad can see them. The iPad shows them live and does not save them. Devices that only follow an iPad's timer never receive them.
You can turn off saving in the app's Settings, or change or remove access at any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps › Digits Timer.
Camera, Microphone And Photos
The camera and microphone are used only while you film a workout with REC or open the camera preview. Recording is never automatic.
- Camera and microphone. The app records video and sound, adds the timer to the picture, and saves the finished clip. The microphone is on only while a clip is being recorded.
- Photos. Clips are saved to your Photos library in a "Digits Timer" album. The app asks for access to your library so it can show those clips in Workout history and delete them when you ask. It does not read, copy or upload your other photos and videos.
- Where clips go. Clips stay in your Photos library. We never receive them. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple syncs them like any other video. If you share a clip, the app or service you share it to receives it.
- Recording on an iPad from an iPhone. An iPad's owner can turn on Allow Remote Recording. A paired iPhone can then start and stop recording on that iPad's camera. It is off by default, and the iPad shows that it is recording.
Videos can include other people. Please film only where you are allowed to, and tell the people around you.
Local Network: iPad, iPhone And Apple Watch
Devices running Digits Timer can talk to each other directly over your Wi-Fi network. Nothing in these connections goes over the internet or to us.
What an iPad announces. When its owner turns on remote control or followers, an iPad announces itself to devices on the same network: its name (which you can change), a random ID, and whether it accepts remotes or followers.
Controlling an iPad. An iPhone that pairs with an iPad using its 4-digit passcode exchanges the following with it:
- the timer and its state, and the commands you send (start, pause, skip)
- your saved timers, so both devices show the same list
- a random device ID, the iPhone's name and a pairing key, so it can reconnect without the passcode. The iPad keeps a list of paired iPhones, which its owner can view and remove
- live heart rate and calories from your Apple Watch, if you have one (see Apple Health above)
Following an iPad. A device that follows an iPad receives only the timer being shown and its state. It sends a random device ID and nothing else. It never receives the iPad's saved timers.
Apple Watch. The Watch talks to its paired iPhone through Apple's own Watch connection. It receives the timer, your saved timers' names and your set colors.
Security. The passcode stops people nearby from taking control of an iPad. The connection itself is not encrypted, so use these features on a network you trust, such as your home or gym Wi-Fi.
Notifications
Every notification from Digits Timer is created on your device. We do not send push notifications, so we hold no notification token or other identifier for your device.
If you allow notifications, the app uses them for two things:
- timer beeps when your device is locked or the app is in the background
- a reminder two days before a free trial ends or a plan renews, if you asked for one
You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings › Notifications › Digits Timer.
Purchases And Subscriptions
Digits Timer Pro is sold only through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment. We never see your name, Apple Account, card number or billing address.
- The app asks Apple, on your device, whether you own Pro, and remembers the answer on the device.
- Apple gives us sales reports: how many purchases were made, in which countries and at what price. These reports do not identify you.
- The 10-day free trial that needs no card is run entirely on your device. Its start date is kept in the device's Keychain and is not sent to us or to Apple.
Apple's handling of your purchase information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
What We Don't Collect, And Third Parties
We do not collect personal information through the app. Specifically, the app has:
- no accounts or sign-in
- no advertising, and no advertising identifier
- no analytics, crash-reporting or other third-party software
- no location access
- no access to your contacts, calendar or other apps' data
- no connection to any server run by us
We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.
Apple. The app runs on Apple's platforms and uses Apple's services: the App Store, Apple Health, Photos, iCloud backup and the Watch connection. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics that do not identify you. Apple's use of your information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you contact us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix the problem, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
Keeping, Deleting And Controlling Your Information
You control everything the app stores, and you can remove it yourself at any time.
| To remove | Do this |
|---|---|
| A saved timer | Swipe it in the list, or use the trash in the editor. If you sync with an iPad, it is removed there too |
| A workout video | Delete it in Workout history or in Photos |
| A workout saved to Apple Health | Delete it in the Health or Fitness app |
| A paired iPhone | On the iPad, open the Connect window and choose Forget |
| Timers, the workout log and settings | Delete the app |
| A permission | iOS Settings › Digits Timer, or the Health app for Apple Health |
Deleting the app does not delete your workouts in Apple Health or your videos in Photos. Those belong to you and stay until you remove them. The free trial date, launch offer time and pairing keys may stay in the device's Keychain after the app is deleted, so that a reinstall does not restart a trial.
Your rights. Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to see, correct and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none from the app, so there is nothing for us to provide or delete. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence.
This Website
The Digits Timer website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, the time of your visit, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address). We see this as totals and trends; we don't use it to identify you, and we don't combine it with anything from the app, which sends us nothing.
Google processes this information on our behalf, under Google's privacy policy. You can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits on any site with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser.
The website has no advertising and no forms, and its fonts are served from the site itself. Like any website, the company that hosts it may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the visit, for security and reliability.
Children
Digits Timer is a general-audience fitness app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, or from anyone else, through the app.
Changes To This Policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change reaches you. A change that adds any collection of personal information will also be described in the app's update notes.
